Inflatable Marine Airbags with High Load Capacity Durable Construction and Easy Installation for Ship Launching
Inflatable Marine Airbags are advanced rubber-based lifting and launching devices engineered for marine operations such as ship launching, vessel hauling, and heavy structure movement. Manufactured using multiple layers of high-strength synthetic tire cord fabrics and coated with abrasion-resistant rubber compounds, these airbags are designed to withstand extreme pressure and harsh marine environments.
Typical diameters range from 0.5m to 2.5m, with lengths extending up to 24m, and working pressures carefully calibrated according to ISO standards. The product offers exceptional load-bearing capacity, enabling safe handling of vessels ranging from small fishing boats to large cargo ships exceeding several thousand tons.
A mid-sized shipyard specializing in bulk carriers faced challenges launching newly constructed vessels due to limited dry dock availability and high infrastructure costs. The shipyard required a flexible and economical launching method for vessels ranging from 3,000 to 8,000 DWT.
Inflatable Marine Airbags were introduced as an alternative solution. A total of 18 airbags with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a length of 18 meters were deployed for the operation. The launch site consisted of a gently sloping sandy shoreline, previously unsuitable for traditional launching systems.
During the operation, the airbags were positioned beneath the vessel hull and inflated to the required pressure. The ship was then gradually rolled into the water with controlled movement. The entire process was completed within a few hours, significantly reducing time compared to conventional methods.
The results demonstrated excellent performance in terms of stability and safety. No structural deformation or airbag damage was observed. The shipyard reported a reduction of over 40 percent in launching costs and highlighted the system's reusability as a major advantage.
