Ferrochrome alloy Description
High carbon ferrochrome (containing carbon of 4~8%), medium carbon ferrochrome (containing carbon of 0.5~4%), low carbon ferrochrome (containing carbon of 0.15~0.50%), micro carbon ferrochrome (containing carbon of 0.06%), ultra micro carbon ferrochrome (containing carbon of less than 0.03%), metal chromium, silicon chromium alloy ferrochrome:
ferrochrome and iron composed of chromium, is an important alloy additive for steelmaking. Chromite used in smelting ferrochrome is generally required to contain Cr2O340 ~ 50%.
Adding chromium to steel can significantly improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel. Chromium is found in many steels with special physicochemical properties. Chromium in steel is added with ferrochrome.
High carbon ferrochrome is used as an alloying agent for ball steel (0.5% ~ 1.45%Cr), tool steel, die steel (5% ~ 12%Cr) and high speed steel (3.8% ~ 4.4%Cr). The hardness and wear resistance of cast iron can be improved by adding chromium. High carbon ferrochrome and charge grade ferrochrome are widely used as charge for smelting stainless steel (AOD or VOD method) to reduce production cost.
