Directional couplers are passive devices primarily used in radio technology applications. They function by coupling a precisely defined amount of electromagnetic power from a transmission line to an auxiliary port, enabling signal distribution to additional radio systems or equipment. A fundamental characteristic of directional couplers is their ability to couple power flowing in only one direction. Power entering the output port is coupled to the isolated port but not to the coupled port.
