Flat Washers, or just Plain Washers, are a flat annulus or ring, often of metal, used to spread the load from the head of a screwed fastening to the base material. Flat washers are used to increase the bearing surface of a nut or fastener's head thus spreading the clamping force over a larger area.
Flat washers are used typically under the head of a bolt or a nut to distribute the foces applied when tightening. Black oxide finish provides enough corrosion protection to prevent rusting.
These hardened, flat washers won't cup during installation to create a thick surface level for load distribution. They fasten to girders and beams and are commonly used with higher strength fasteners such as A325 and A490 structural bolts and Grade 5 and 8 bolts.
Plain washers, also know and flat washers, are standard spacing washers used on a multitude of industrial and domestic applications. Flat washers are designed to prevent damage to the contact surface by sitting between a nut and the surface. our range includes plain washers, form “A” washers, spring washers and thick jig washers.
