The punch, which is a hardened steel tool, pushes the copper sheet into the die, thus forming the desired shape.
- Forming and Bending: In addition to basic shaping, the stamping process can involve forming and bending operations to create more complex features or angles. This is achieved by using additional punches, dies, or bending tools within the stamping press. Multiple stamping operations may be performed to achieve the final shape.
- Trimming and Piercing: Trimming and piercing operations may be carried out to remove excess material or create holes and openings in the copper stamping part.
- Secondary Operations: After the initial stamping process, secondary operations may be performed depending on the specific requirements of the part. These can include deburring, surface finishing (such as polishing or plating), welding, or assembly processes to join multiple stamped parts together.
- Quality Control: Throughout the manufacturing process, copper stamping parts undergo quality control inspections to ensure they meet the required specifications and dimensional tolerances. This can involve dimensional measurements, visual inspections, surface quality assessments, and other testing methods.
