P45/IP67/IP68 Waterproof and Dustproof Test

Sometimes also called "waterproof rating" and "dustproof rating", it defines the degree of protection that mechanical and electronic equipment can provide against solid foreign body intrusion (including body parts such as fingers, dust, gravel, etc.), liquid penetration, and accidental contact.

This standard focuses on providing users with more detailed product information, rather than just vague marketing terms such as "waterproof". However, this standard has not been publicly released.

The number in the code indicates compliance with the following table. When any of the conditions are not met, the number is replaced by the letter "X".

For example, a socket with a nominal IP22 can effectively prevent the insertion of fingers without damage, and will not become dangerous due to dripping water in vertical or nearly vertical conditions. The design standard for this type of indoor socket is IP22 or IP2X. A phone with IP67 rating is completely dustproof and can be submerged in water up to 1m deep. It also has the ability to withstand high-pressure water jets.
