Product Description

BABY LOUNGER CPC Certification-16 CFR 1236

BABY LOUNGER Safety Standard (16 CFR 1236) CPC Certification

According to the requirements of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), all infant sleep products must comply with the new safety standard (16 CFR 1236) from October 1, 2022. This standard is designed to ensure the safety and stability of infant sleep products to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome and other sleep injuries.

Infant sleep products are a type of commodity used for infant sleep, including but not limited to cribs, cradles, strollers, baby rocking chairs, baby rocking beds, portable mattresses, etc. These products must comply with the new safety standards before they can be sold and used in the U.S. market.

The 16 CFR 1236 standard mainly considers the following factors:

Stability: The stability of infant sleep products is critical because it ensures the safety of infants while sleeping. The standard requires that the product must be reasonably designed, structurally sound, stable, and easy to clean and disinfect.

Material safety: The material of the product should meet environmental and safety requirements, contain no harmful substances, and be able to withstand the weight of the baby and daily use.

Anti-suffocation design: Infant sleep products must adopt anti-suffocation design to reduce sudden infant death syndrome and other suffocation risks. The standard requires that the product should not have folding covers, pillows, blankets and other items that are easy to cause suffocation, and have the function of preventing quilts from sliding or stacking.

Warning label: The product must have a clear and easy-to-read warning label indicating the applicable age, usage and precautions of the product. The warning label must include English instructions for consumers to better understand and use.

Testing and certification: Manufacturers must prove to CPSC that their products meet the requirements of 16 CFR 1236. Manufacturers need to conduct relevant testing and certification of their products to prove their safety.

For products that have been put on the market, if the manufacturer does not obtain certification that it meets the standard within the specified time, CPSC will require it to stop selling and remove the product from the market. If the manufacturer fails to comply with this requirement, CPSC will take necessary legal action.

The safety of infant sleep products is critical to the health and safety of infants. The implementation of 16 CFR 1236 is to ensure the safety and stability of infant sleep products sold on the market.
