Metal silicon is a product produced by smelting quartz and coke in an electric furnace, with a main component silicon element content of about 98% (in recent years, silicon content of 99.99% has also been included in metal silicon), and other impurities include iron, aluminum, calcium, and so on. Semiconductor silicon is a high-purity metallic silicon used in the production of semiconductor devices. It is sold in the form of polycrystalline or single crystal, with the former being cheap and the latter being expensive. It is divided into multiple specifications due to its different uses.
