Calcium silicon, also known as calcium silicide, is an alloy composed of calcium, silicon, and traces of other elements. It is primarily used as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and an alloying agent in the steelmaking industry.

Applications
Steelmaking: Calcium silicon is added to molten steel to improve its quality and performance. It serves multiple purposes in the steelmaking process:
Deoxidizer: Calcium silicon reacts with oxygen in the molten steel, reducing the oxygen content and removing impurities. This helps enhance the steel's cleanliness and mechanical properties.
Desulfurizer: Calcium silicon reacts with sulfur in the steel, reducing the sulfur content. It helps control the level of sulfur, which can negatively affect the steel's quality and properties.
