Carburant are usually named from its end usage, for example,Steel-making carburant( based on YB/T 192-200,Black Metallurgy Industry Standard ,Public of China) Cast iron carburant ;it is also used in some adding materials, for example,being friction materials as one kind of additive in brake pad.Carburant is increasing carbon materials in stell-making and cast iron.High quality carburant is indispensable supplementary additive in production of high features of steel .Carburant raw materials are in a great range.As for raw materials ,there are wood carbon origin type,coal based carbon origin type , High quality carburant are usually refer to the carburant which are through graphitization;under high temperature,carbon atom’s arrangement takes a micromorphology of graphite,so we call it graphitization ;Graphitization can reduce the impurities content and sulphur in carburant,then increase the carbon content.

Application
In the process of smelting, due to inappropriate adding material or improper or over carbon ,the carbon content didn’t reach the expected value,this case,thus,it needs to add carbon content in liquid steel.Commonly used carbon increasing agent are In casting process,carburant can increase using rate of wasted steel,reduce amount of pig iron or n no need to add pig iron.
In electric furnace smelting feeding material method,carburant should be put in together with waste steel .For small amount adding ,it can be add in iron water surface;But what should be avoided is throw raw materials in large amount in iron water,this is applied to avoid the condition that due to over oxidation the carbon increasing effect is not apparent and the substandard of the casting carbon content.
The amount of carburant put in production process is according to the rate with other materials and the carbon content .For different casting iron,different model of carburant needed.
Good selection of carbrant can reduce the cost of cast iron.
Now times ,almost all of carburant can be applied to electric-furnace smelting,but there are still some carburant which can be absorb very quickly applied to cupola furnace.
