Product Description

1.Ferrochrome is a kind of ferroalloy with chromium and iron as main component and it is one of the main alloy agent in iron and steel industry. Ferro chrome contains chromium between 50% and 70%.

2.The ferrochrome is produced by electric arc melting of chromite, an iron magnesium chromium oxide and the most important chromium ore. 

3.Chrome is mainly used to improve the antioxidation and corrosion resistance of steel to make the surface of steel after it is oxidized to form strong adhension oxide film. Then it stops being oxidized or decelerates being oxidized.

4.Micro-carbon ferro chrome is applied to making stainless steel, acid-resistant steel and heat resistant steel.

Types of Ferrochromium

1. High-carbon ferrochrome

High-carbon ferrochrome is usually used as an alloying agent for ball steel (0.5%～1.45%Cr), tool steel, die steel (5%～12%Cr), and high-speed steel  and can harden steel. Increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel.

2. low-carbon ferrochrome is used in the production of medium and low-carbon structural steel, carburizing steel, gears, high-pressure blower blades, valve plates, etc.

3. Micro-carbon ferrochrome is mainly used to produce stainless steel, wear-resistant steel, and heat-resistant steel.

Application :
1. It is used as an alloying agent for circulating bead steel, tool steel and high-speed steel with high carbon content to improve the hardenability of steel and increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel.
2. It is used as an additive for cast iron to improve the grindability and hardness of cast iron, and at the same time make cast iron have good heat resistance;
3. Used as a slag-free method to produce silicon-chromium alloys and medium, low and micro-carbon ferrochromium and
chromium-containing raw materials;
