- Low thermal neutron absorption for nuclear applications
- Custom processing available for specific requirements
- Seamless construction for superior performance
Zirconium alloys are solid solutions of zirconium with other metals, featuring extremely low thermal neutron absorption cross-section, high hardness, ductility, and exceptional corrosion resistance. These alloys are primarily used in nuclear technology applications such as fuel rods in nuclear reactors, where they serve as core structural materials including fuel cladding, pressure pipes, supports, and tunnel pipes.
Typical nuclear-grade zirconium alloys contain over 95% zirconium with less than 2% tin, antimony, iron, chromium, nickel, and other metals added to enhance mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The material demonstrates outstanding performance in high-temperature, high-pressure water and steam environments at 300-400°C.
- Nuclear reactor components (fuel cladding, pressure pipes)
- Chemical processing equipment
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing devices
- Electric vacuum and bulb industry getters
- Flash and pyrotechnic materials
We provide two main zirconium alloy series: zirconium-tin alloys (represented by Zr-2) and zirconium-niobium alloys (represented by Zr-2.5Nb). Each alloy type offers specific advantages for different industrial applications and operating conditions.
