Heat-Resistant Adhesive PVC Tape For Automotive & Industrial Wire Harnessing

1. Basic insulation performance

High dielectric strength: the voltage rating is usually 600V~1000V, effectively isolating the current to prevent short circuit or leakage.
 

Volume resistivity: ≥1×10¹² Ω·cm (at room temperature), blocking the conductive path.

2. Material characteristics

Base material type:

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) : flexible, low cost, temperature resistance 80~105°C (enhanced).
 

Polyester (PET) : temperature resistance above 150°C, puncture resistance, but poor ductility.
 

Silicone rubber: temperature resistance of 200°C+, excellent elasticity, but high price.
 

Composition: acrylic (aging resistance) > Rubber (high initial viscosity) > silicone (high temperature resistance).

3. Environmental tolerance
Temperature range:
 

Conventional type: -20°C to 80°C (PVC base).
 

High temperature resistant type: -40°C to 150°C (silicone/polyester base).
 

Weather resistance:

UV resistance (outdoor model) : Add carbon black or light stabilizer to delay UV aging.
 

Waterproof and moisture-proof: The tape reaches IP67 seal grade after wrapping to protect the joint in wet environment.
 

Chemical resistance: resistance to oil, weak acid, weak alkali and some solvents (such as gasoline).

4. Mechanical properties
Tensile strength: ≥15N/cm (PVC) to ≥30N/cm (polyester base).
 

Ductility: PVC tape can stretch 200%~300%, tightly fit irregular surface.
 

Wear resistance: The surface is smooth and anti-wear, suitable for mobile cable protection (such as drag chain cable).

5. Security and compliance
Flame retardant rating:
 

UL 510 certification: Vertical combustion test self-extinguishing time < 30 seconds.
 

IEC 60454: Pass the glowing wire test (750°C without igniting).
 

Environmental standards: RoHS/REACH No halogen, no phthalate.

6. Ease of use
Self-melting: The adhesive layer is fused after stretching and winding to form a jointless seal (no heating required).
 

Color identification: Black, red, yellow, green and other colors comply with IEC 60446 phase ide

ntification specifications.
 

Easy to tear design: pre-cut roll or release paper packaging, supporting quick operation without tools.

7. Economy
Cost performance: The cost of PVC tape is only 1/5 to 1/3 of the silicone tape, suitable for large-scale applications.
