304 (UNS S30400) Stainless Steel Coil Stock & Stilling, 8K Surface
With its chromium-nickel content and low carbon, Type 304 is the most versatile and widely used of the austenitic stainless steels. Occasionally referred to as “18-8,” it has better corrosion resistance than Type 301 or 302 and offers excellent drawing and forming characteristics. It offers satisfactory service at high temperatures although carbide precipitation may occur with prolonged exposure to the temperature range of 800°-1600°F.
