It converts combustion pressure into crankkshaft rotation and sets the 9.6:1 compression ratio together with the rod assembly.
Forged aluminium skirt with anti-scuff coating, 82.51 mm STD bore, 29.6 mm compression height, 21×56 mm wrist pin and trapezoidal-rod clearance; supplied as a complete unit with rings, pin and circlips. It resists detonation scoring, ring-land cracking and oil burning
