    The junk sub is an effective drilling tool mainly used to salvage underground debris, such as carbide teeth, drill bit bearings, etc., which are heavy iron or metal debris that cannot be brought out of the wellbore by normal mud circulation during drilling. It plays an important role in keeping the bottom of the well clean, ensuring the normal operation and service life of the drill bit, and reducing and preventing underground accidents.

    The drilling salvage cup is mainly composed of a mandrel, a straightening block, an outer tube, a lower joint, etc.

Working principle:

    Because the outer diameter of the salvage cup body (outer tube) is large, the annular gap with the wellbore is small, while the mandrel diameter at the cup mouth is small, and the annular gap with the wellbore is large. Therefore, the flow rate of drilling fluid drops sharply at the mouth of the cup, forming a vortex, and its carrying capacity is greatly weakened, so that the heavier debris in the drilling fluid falls into the cup and is fished out with the drilling.

Use and operation of drilling salvage cup:

  1. The junk sub should be installed above the scraper, drill bit, grinding shoe, and milling shoe to fish out small debris such as broken iron and carbide blocks.

  2 When installing (or unloading) the salvage cup, the tongs cannot bite on the cup body.

  3 The cup body is not deformed and the inside of the cup is clean There should be no debris and the drainage hole must be unobstructed.

  4 When the salvage cup is directly connected above the scraper, drill bit, grinding shoe, and milling shoe, there should be no matching joints in the middle.

  5 The outer diameter of the salvage cup should match the borehole diameter.

  6 There are no special requirements for the salvage operation of the salvage cup. It can be operated according to the requirements of the salvage tool or drilled normally. When the drill is pulled up to the casing shoe, it should be lifted at a low speed to prevent collision and hanging.

  7 The cumulative rotation time of the salvage cup while drilling shall not exceed 1200h.
