    API 6A Weld Neck Flanges are pipe flanges attach by welding the pipes to the neck of the flanges. They are divided into necked flat welding flanges and necked butt welding flanges.

The differences between necked flat welding flanges and necked convex flanges are as follows:

  1. Different appearance: the neck of the necked flat welding flange is relatively short and is on the same plane as the flange itself; while the neck of the necked convex flange is relatively long and protrudes above the surface of the flange.

  2. Different installation methods: the necked flat welding flange is generally directly connected to the pipeline or equipment, and the flange needs to be fixed to the connected component with bolts; while the necked convex flange needs to install a gasket on the flange, and then use bolts to connect the flange to the connected pipe or equipment to ensure sealing performance.

  3. Different applicable scenarios: the necked flat welding flange is suitable for some low pressure and low temperature occasions, while the necked convex flange is suitable for some high pressure, high temperature and corrosive environments.

  4. Different sealing performance: the necked convex flange usually has better sealing performance and anti-explosion performance than the necked flat welding flange.
