The preparation of needle coke is a molecular distillation of asphalt as a raw material, and the product is collected as needle coke. The process of preparing needle coke involves the following steps in the given order:

1. Asphalt material is used as the raw material, the raw material is fed into the system, and the material is melted to obtain molten asphalt.

​​2. The degassed asphalt is then subjected to molecular distillation. The resulting fractions containing light and heavy components are separated. The light components are delayed-coked to produce green coke.

​3. The green coke is calcined. Needle coke is produced from calcined coke.

4. The needle coke product is then collected for further use.
