1. Disconnect battery negative cable - then disconnect positive cable (if not secured)
2. Raise vehicle (if necessary) - to access starter on engine transmission joint
3. Disconnect the starter solenoid trigger wire - usually a small push-on terminal
4. Disconnect the main battery cable - heavy-gauge wire from the starter solenoid terminal
