Installation Notes
Professional installation required. Proper procedure is critical for safe steering operation:
- Raise and secure the vehicle - Safely raise the front axle and support on jack stands
- Remove the front wheels - Remove both front wheels for access to steering components
- Remove the steering knuckle - Disconnect the tie rod, drag link, and remove the steering knuckle
- Remove the old king pin - Press out the old king pin and remove bushings and bearings
- Inspect the axle yoke - Check the axle yoke for wear or damage; repair or replace if necessary
- Clean thoroughly - Clean all components and mounting surfaces
- Install new bushings - Press new bushings into the steering knuckle
- Ream/hone bushings - Ream or hone bushings to correct king pin clearance (if required)
- Install new king pin - Press the new king pin into the axle yoke
- Install thrust bearings and spacers - Install new thrust bearings and spacers
- Install the steering knuckle - Position the knuckle on the axle yoke and install the king pin
