We use Vanadium on our calico pocket springs that are found in the higher end artisan models. There is also the use of pocket springs forged from a Vanadium compound by some exclusive manufacturers. Using Vanadium during the steel-forging phase provides the metal with more strength; this is useful when the metal is made into a spring.
