Thin Plate: Usually thickness from 0.5 mm (0.0197 inch) to 3 mm (0.1181 inch) is called thin plate. These sheets are suitable for applications requiring lightweight and flexible materials such as electronics, aerospace and decoration.
Medium board: Usually the thickness from 3 mm (0.1181 inches) to 20 mm (0.7874 inches) is called medium board. Medium plate has higher strength and durability and is suitable for structural components, chemical equipment and petroleum industry, etc.
Thick Plate: Typically thicknesses from 20 mm (0.7874 inches) to over 100 mm (3.937 inches) are called thick plates. These thick plates are suitable for applications requiring extremely high strength and durability, such as shipbuilding, offshore platforms and heavy equipment.
Features:
The price of thinner 316 stainless steel plates is relatively high, and the price of extra-thick plates is also relatively high. This is because the production of thicker or thinner plates requires more raw materials and more complex processing, which leads to increased costs. The price of 316 stainless steel sheets with a thickness of 3mm-12mm is moderate.
Thinner sheets may need to be produced through cold or hot rolling processes, while thicker sheets may require processes such as heat treatment or cutting, and the costs of these processes will also be reflected in the price.
