Product Description
Structural Design & Configuration
Steel arch bridges are engineered for exceptional strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal. The arch design efficiently transfers weight to supports, providing superior load-bearing capabilities with high tensile strength steel construction.
Arch Bridge Classification
- Section Form: Steel box arch, steel pipe arch, steel truss arch
- Arch Rib Position: Parallel arch ribs, basket arch ribs, butterfly arch ribs
- Carriageway System: Upper bearing type, middle bearing type, lower bearing type
- Boom Layout: Parallel vertical boom, inclined boom, mesh boom
Key Structural Features
- Curved arch shape providing inherent strength and stability
- High strength-to-weight ratio steel construction
- Span capabilities from 10m to 300m single span
- Elegant visual design blending with surrounding environment
Main Structural Components
Arch Rib
Primary load-bearing member designed as box, pipe, or truss type. Truss arch ribs offer light weight, greater span capacity, and excellent economy.
Boom System
Force transfer components transmitting deck loads to arch ribs. Available as rigid booms (steel pipe/section steel) or flexible booms (high-strength steel wire bundles).
Tie Rod (Beam)
For non-thrust arch designs, tie rods bear the arch thrust and handle significant axial tension loads.
Cross Brace System
Ensures transverse stiffness and stability of arch ribs. Common configurations include one-word brace, K-shaped brace, X-shaped brace, and meter-shaped brace.

Design Parameters & Applications
Rise Span Ratio: Typically 1/4 to 1/5 for steel truss arch bridges. Smaller ratios increase horizontal thrust at arch foot.
Arch Axis Forms: Arc line, quadratic parabola, catenary for optimal force distribution.
Applications: Suitable for long-span rigid arch bridges, heavy-duty railway bridges, and dual road-railway arrangements.
