Overview
Optical fiber composite overhead ground wire (OPGW) is a type of cable used for overhead power lines. This cable integrates grounding and communication functions.
The OPGW cable is a tubular structure with one or more optical fibers wrapped in the tube and a layer of steel and aluminum wires. Mainly used for 110kV, 220kV, 500kV, 750kV and new overhead high-voltage transmission system communication lines.
It can also be used to replace existing ground wires in old overhead high-voltage transmission systems.
OPGW Cable Application
OPGW cables are laid between the tops of high-voltage power towers. The conductive portion of the cable is used to bind the adjacent towers to the ground and shield the high voltage conductors from lightning strikes. Special structure can be customized according to user needs.
