System Principles
Electrochemical reaction: Fe→Fe²⁺+2e
Anodizing reaction: 2OH⁻→2[O]+2e→O₂+2e
Cathode reduction: 2H⁺+2e→2[H]→H₂

The nascent oxygen [O] provides strong oxidation similar to UV, H₂O₂ and O₃ treatments. Nascent hydrogen breaks chemical bonds, reducing COD and chromophore functional groups. These oxidation and reduction processes continuously occur on the plates.
