Electrocoagulation System Principles
The system operates through electrochemical reactions:
- Electrochemical reaction: Fe→Fe2++2e
- Anodizing reaction: 2OH-→2[O]+2e→O2+2e (nascent oxygen has strong oxidation function)
- Cathode reduction: 2H++2e→2[H]→H2 (nascent hydrogen breaks chemical bonds)
These oxidation and reduction reactions occur continuously on the electrode plates.
