Anodizing reaction: 2OH⁻→2[O]+2e→O₂+2e. The nascent oxygen [O] provides strong oxidation comparable to UV, H₂O₂ and O₃.
Cathode reduction produces nascent hydrogen that breaks chemical bonds, COD, chromophore functional groups and multi-chain compounds.
These oxidation and reduction reactions occur continuously on the electrode plates.
