Woodfree Uncoated Paper (WFU), also known as uncoated woodfree paper (UWF) or uncoated fine papers, is produced from wood that has been transformed into a chemical pulp. This process removes lignin from the wood fibers and may include 5–25% fillers. Both softwood and hardwood chemical pulps are utilized, with a small percentage of mechanical pulp (often sourced from aspen or poplar) added. These paper grades undergo calendering.
