CARBONLESS PAPER APPLICATION

The top sheet (CB or Coated Back) is treated with microscopic capsules containing colorless dye precursors. When pressure is applied—whether from a pen, printer, or stylus—these capsules rupture, releasing the dye. The bottom sheet (CF or Coated Front) is coated with a reactive clay or polymer that acts as a developer. When the dye comes into contact with this layer, a chemical reaction occurs, resulting in a permanent, high-contrast mark. Middle sheets (CFB or Coated Front and Back) facilitate multi-copy sets by transferring the dye through successive layers.
