Energy-saving Submerged Arc Furnace for Ferromanganese Ore Smelting


1. Product Overview

This energy-saving submerged arc furnace is dedicated equipment for smelting manganese ore to produce various ferromanganese alloys, covering multiple power specifications to match small, medium and large manganese metallurgy plants.

Compared with traditional old-type manganese furnaces, this series optimizes furnace lining structure, short net conductive system and closed flue gas recovery system, achieving obvious power saving effect. It can process manganese oxide ore, manganese carbonate ore, mixed manganese ore, output high-carbon ferromanganese, medium-carbon ferromanganese, low-carbon ferromanganese and silicomanganese alloy by adjusting burden formula.

The whole line adopts automatic batching, hydraulic electrode lifting and PLC centralized control, equipped with complete dust removal and waste heat utilization facilities, complying with global environmental protection standards. Turnkey service including design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and technical training is available.

2. Working Principle

Raw materials: manganese ore, coke/reducing coal, lime flux, silica.

Three self-baking electrodes are deeply buried in furnace burden. Large current passes through electrodes and charge to generate submerged arc heat and resistance heat, forming high-temperature reduction zone at 1300–1650℃ inside the furnace.

Manganese oxides in manganese ore are reduced into molten ferromanganese under carbothermic high-temperature reaction. Gangue minerals react with lime to form low-melting slag floating on alloy liquid. Separate tapping of alloy and slag, then cooling, crushing and screening to obtain standard ferromanganese finished ingots.
