Monel-K500/400 Solid Hex Rod Polished Hexagonal Bar For Construction

 

Monel K-500 and Monel 400 are two different nickel-based alloys, each with unique properties and applications. Here is a comparison of the two alloys:

 

Monel 400:

  • Composition: Contains mainly about 67% nickel and 28% copper, with small amounts of iron, manganese, silicon and carbon.
  • Corrosion resistance: Highly resistant to a variety of corrosive environments, including salt water, non-oxidizing acids, alkaline solutions, fkkk fluoride and organic compounds.
  • Mechanical properties: Good strength, toughness and ductility.
  • Temperature adaptability: Suitable for a wide temperature range, from low temperature to high temperature environment.
  • Welding performance: Good weldability, but annealing may be required to restore performance after welding.
  • Application areas: Commonly used in marine engineering, chemical processing, oil and gas industry, pollution control equipment, etc.

 

Monel K-500:

  • Composition: Similar to Monel 400, but strengthened with the addition of aluminum and titanium, increasing its strength and hardness.
  • Corrosion resistance: The corrosion resistance is similar to Monel 400, but due to its strengthening treatment, it may show different corrosion behavior in certain environments.
  • Mechanical properties: Has higher yield strength and tensile strength than Monel 400, suitable for applications requiring higher strength and wear resistance.
  • Temperature adaptability: Also suitable for a wide temperature range, but may not perform as well as Monel 400 in extreme temperatures.
  • Welding performance: The weldability is not as good as Monel 400, and heat treatment is usually required after welding to restore strength and corrosion resistance.
  • Application areas: Suitable for applications requiring higher strength and wear resistance, such as subsea installations, valves, fasteners and springs.


Summary: Monel K-500 is a strengthened version of Monel 400 with higher strength and hardness for applications requiring higher mechanical properties. However, the welding performance and corrosion resistance of Monel K-500 may not be as good as Monel 400, especially in certain environments.
