• Chromium (Cr): 20% - 23%
• Molybdenum (Mo): 8% - 10%
• Iron (Fe): Up to 5%
• Niobium (Nb) + Tantalum (Ta): 3.15% - 4.15%
• Plus traces of aluminum, titanium, carbon, and silicon

Physical Properties

• Density: About 8.44 g/cm³
• Melting Point: 1290°C - 1350°C (2350°F - 2460°F)
• Thermal Conductivity: Varies with temperature, at 100°C approx. 9.8 W/m·K

Mechanical Properties

• Tensile Strength: Typically in the range of 690 MPa to 1,035 MPa, depending on the form and treatment
• Yield Strength: Can vary, but typically starts around 415 MPa in annealed condition
• Hardness: Can vary; usually more focus is on yield and tensile strength for Inconel alloys

Features

• Corrosion Resistance: Exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive media, including seawater and acidic environments.
• Oxidation Resistance: Inconel 625 can withstand a wide range of temperatures without oxidizing, up to about 980°C (1800°F).
• Strength: High tensile, creep, and rupture strength, making it suitable for high temperature applications.
• Weldability: Excellent weldability, which is particularly important for complex shapes like forging discs.

• ASTM B446: This specification covers the chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical requirements for nickel-chromium-molybdenum-columbium alloys (UNS N06625) in the form of rods, bars, and forging stocks.
• AMS 5666: Covering nickel alloy, corrosion and heat-resistant, bars, forgings, and rings.
