INCONEL® Alloy 693

A nickel-chromium alloy with addition of aluminium to offer optimum resistance to metal dusting attack of any available conventional nickel-based alloy. The high chromium content gives excellent resistance to oxidation and sulphidation. The addition of aluminium improves resistance to other high temperature corrosion mechanisms. Alloy 693 exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation and carburisation at temperatures up to 1150°C (2100°F). The alloy’s resistance to metal dusting attack makes it especially suitable for systems used to generate synthesis gas and in hydrogen reformers.

Chemical Composition:

Inconel 693 is a nickel-based superalloy with the following key alloying elements:

Nickel (Ni): ~58-63% (provides excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength)

Chromium (Cr): ~27-31% (enhances oxidation and corrosion resistance)

Aluminum (Al): ~2.5-4% (improves oxidation resistance and forms a protective oxide layer)

Iron (Fe): ~2.5-6% (minor component for structural stability)

Niobium (Nb): ~0.5-2.5% (enhances strength and creep resistance)

Titanium (Ti): ~0.5% (improves mechanical properties)

Carbon (C): ~0.15% (strengthens the alloy)

Manganese (Mn): ~1% (improves hot workability)

Silicon (Si): ~1% (enhances oxidation resistance)

 

Applications:

Inconel 693 seamless pipes are used in industries and applications where high-temperature performance and corrosion resistance are critical. Common applications include:

Chemical Processing: High-temperature reactors, furnace components, and piping systems.

Petrochemical: Equipment exposed to sulfidation and carburization environments.
