GH230 seamless tubing (Haynes 230 / UNS N06230) is a nickel-chromium-tungsten solid-solution strengthened alloy offering exceptional high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and structural stability up to 1100°C.
GH230 (Haynes 230 / UNS N06230) is a nickel-based superalloy primarily strengthened by solid-solution effects. It is specifically formulated with a balanced composition of chromium (for oxidation resistance) and tungsten (for high-temperature strength), with additions of molybdenum, cobalt, and carbon to enhance creep strength and carbide formation.
2. Key Technical Properties
- Temperature Capability: Exhibits excellent stability in continuous service at temperatures ranging from 700°C to 1050°C. Short-term exposure up to 1150°C is feasible without significant degradation.
- Oxidation & Corrosion Resistance: Forms a dense, adherent chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) protective scale, providing superior resistance to high-temperature oxidation and carburization.
- Mechanical Strength: Maintains high tensile and creep-rupture strength at elevated temperatures. It demonstrates minimal plastic deformation under long-term mechanical stress.
- Structural Stability: The alloy is highly resistant to the formation of detrimental TCP (Topologically Close-Packed) phases, even after extended aging (e.g., 1000 hours at 800°C), ensuring long-term dimensional integrity.
3. Typical Applications
Due to its robust technical profile, GH230 seamless tubing is the material of choice for critical components in extreme thermal environments:
