Product Description
Hastelloy C-276 Forged Rings to Eliminate Critical Corrosion Risks in Harsh Industrial Environments
ASTM B564 / UNS N10276 (Hastelloy C-276) nickel alloy forged rings represent a high-performance, high-reliability ring component solution for applications in the most demanding corrosive environments. Through forging, it combines the inherent superior corrosion resistance of C-276 alloy with enhanced mechanical properties, structural integrity, and reliability, making it an indispensable key material in high-end manufacturing, particularly in the chemical, energy, and marine engineering sectors.
When selecting this product, in addition to focusing on chemical composition and mechanical property reports, forging process control, non-destructive testing standards, and complete heat treatment records are equally crucial.
Mechanical Properties
(ASTM B564 Requirements) Forgings are typically delivered in the solution-annealed state (water-quenched at approximately 1121°C). The minimum mechanical properties specified in the standard are typically as follows:
- Tensile Strength (Rm): ≥ 690 MPa
- Yield Strength (Rp0.2): ≥ 283 MPa
- Elongation (A): ≥ 40%
- Hardness: Typically ≤ HRB 100 (Specific values may vary depending on size and thickness)
Heat Treatment
- Solution Treatment: The standard heat treatment condition. Typically, heating and holding at 1120°C to 1177°C, followed by rapid water cooling (quenching). The purpose is to ensure all alloying elements are fully dissolved into the nickel matrix, obtaining a uniform single-phase austenitic structure, thus guaranteeing optimal corrosion resistance and toughness.
- Stress-Relief Annealing: For parts with residual stress generated during manufacturing (such as welding or cold forming), stress-relief annealing can be performed at approximately 900°C, followed by rapid cooling.
Typical Application Scenarios
UNS N10276 forged rings are particularly suitable for the following harsh environments:
- Chemical and Petrochemical Industries: Reactor flanges, high-pressure valves, pump casings, and other components exposed to mixed acids (such as sulfuric acid + hydrochloric acid), organic acids (formic acid, acetic acid), and chloride media
- Pollution Control: Scrubbers, reheaters, fan blades, etc., in flue gas desulfurization systems, subject to long-term contact with wet sulfur- and chlorine-containing waste gases
- Marine and Seawater Desalination: Seawater pipeline systems, heat exchanger end caps, resisting pitting and crevice corrosion under high chloride ion concentrations
- Energy and Aviation: Valves in supercritical power plants, precision load-bearing components in aero-engines, requiring high fatigue life under dynamic loads
Quality Assurance and Procurement Recommendations
To ensure forged rings meet actual working conditions, the following measures are recommended:
- Clarify Technical Specifications: Specify standard version, chemical composition tolerances, mechanical property classification, heat treatment status, and non-destructive testing requirements (ultrasonic + penetrant testing) in procurement contracts
- Select Qualified Suppliers: Prioritize manufacturers with vacuum induction melting + electroslag remelting (VIM+ESR) capabilities to ensure material purity
- Key Points for Delivery Acceptance:
- Verify chemical composition and mechanical property data in Material Quality Certificate (MTC)
- Implement PMI (Positive Material Identification) sampling inspections to verify material authenticity
- Check surface treatment quality, perform pickling or sandblasting if necessary to remove oxide scale
