Product Description
Product Overview
Inconel 625 is a solid-solution strengthened nickel-based superalloy reinforced primarily with molybdenum and niobium, offering exceptional stability in extreme corrosive environments and high-temperature conditions. Inconel 625 forged flanges are manufactured in strict compliance with ASTM B564 / ASME SB564 standards, with material designation UNS N06625 (German standard 2.4856). They are the preferred connection components for critical piping systems in the chemical, marine, aerospace, and nuclear industries.
Thanks to its unique chemical composition design, Inconel 625 flanges achieve high strength without requiring post-weld heat treatment, while maintaining excellent workability and weldability. They can reliably serve in applications ranging from cryogenic temperatures up to 980°C (1800°F).

Chemical Composition
Inconel 625 is based on a nickel matrix, with precise proportions of various alloying elements to achieve superior comprehensive performance:
| Element | Content (%) | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel (Ni) | ≥ 58.0 | Base element; provides austenitic stability and fundamental corrosion resistance |
| Chromium (Cr) | 20.0 ~ 23.0 | Forms a dense oxide layer; enhances oxidation and corrosion resistance |
| Molybdenum (Mo) | 8.0 ~ 10.0 | Improves resistance in reducing media; resists chloride-induced pitting |
| Niobium (Nb) | 3.15 ~ 4.15 | Key strengthening element; synergizes with molybdenum to provide high strength without heat treatment |
| Iron (Fe) | ≤5.0 | Controlled to ensure structural stability |
| Carbon (C) | ≤0.10 | Strictly controlled to prevent carbide precipitation affecting corrosion resistance |
| Cobalt (Co) | ≤1.0 | Controlled impurity element |
| Aluminum (Al) / Titanium (Ti) | ≤0.40 | Trace elements for microstructure stabilization |
Core Mechanism: The addition of niobium works synergistically with molybdenum to strengthen the alloy matrix through solid-solution strengthening, enabling Inconel 625 to achieve high strength without requiring precipitation hardening heat treatments.
Mechanical Properties
Inconel 625 forged flanges exhibit excellent strength-toughness balance in the solution annealed condition:
| Property | Room Temperature | At 650°C (1200°F) |
|---|---|---|
| Tensile Strength (Rm) | ≥827 MPa (120 ksi) | ≥760 MPa (110 ksi) |
| Yield Strength (Rp0.2) | ≥414 MPa (60 ksi) | ≥290 MPa (42 ksi) |
| Elongation (A) | ≥30% | ≥55% |
| Hardness | ≤220 HB | -- |
Temperature Adaptability: Maintains good tensile and fatigue properties from cryogenic -196°C (-320°F) up to 980°C (1800°F). Non-magnetic (permeability ≤1.0006).
Key Performance Advantages
Exceptional Corrosion Resistance
- Broad-spectrum Resistance: Excellent resistance to sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric, and phosphoric acids, as well as mixed acid environments
- Localized Corrosion Resistance: Particularly resistant to chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion; suitable for seawater, brine, and high-chloride environments
- Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance: Certified to NACE MR-01-75; resistant to sour gas environments containing hydrogen sulfide (H₂S)
- Oxidation Resistance: Maintains good oxidation resistance up to 982°C (1800°F)
Superior High-Temperature Strength
- Melting Range: 1290-1350°C (2350-2460°F); maintains structural integrity up to 1093°C (2000°F)
- Creep Resistance: Face-centered cubic crystal structure provides excellent creep and fatigue resistance at elevated temperatures
- Thermal Stability: Exhibits only minimal age hardening effects after prolonged service at 550-700°C (1020-1290°F)
Excellent Workability and Weldability
- Superior Weldability: ERNiCrMo-3 filler metal recommended; maintains stable performance without post-weld heat treatment
- Cold & Hot Workability: Moderate hardness after solution treatment (≤220 HB) facilitates machining; hot working recommended above 1200°C (2190°F)
- Formability: Elongation up to 50%, combining high strength with excellent plasticity
Heat Treatment
Inconel 625 flanges can be supplied in different heat treatment conditions based on service requirements:
| Treatment | Temperature Range | Cooling Method | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solution Annealing | 1093-1204°C (2000-2200°F) | Water quench or air cool | Stress relief, enhanced corrosion resistance; standard delivery condition |
| Annealing | 927-1038°C (1700-1900°F) | Air cool or water quench | Improves ductility after cold working |
| Stress Relief | 900°C (1650°F) | Air cool | Relieves residual stresses from welding or cold forming |
