Optimized Development and Production of Dump Buddy by FCE
Dump Buddy, designed for RVs, securely fastens your wastewater hose connection to prevent accidental spills. Whether for a single dump after a trip or a more permanent setup during extended stays, Dump Buddy delivers a reliable solution, gaining wide popularity among consumers.
This product comprises nine parts and involves multiple processes, including injection molding, overmolding, adhesive application, printing, riveting, assembly, and packaging. The client’s initial design was complex, with too many parts, and they requested FCE to optimize it.
The development was progressive. Initially, the client provided FCE with a single injection-molded part to work on. By the end, FCE was responsible for the entire product development, assembly, and final packaging, demonstrating the client's growing trust in FCE’s capabilities.
The product features a gear mechanism, and FCE left room for design adjustments. After reviewing the gear's performance and rotational force with the client, FCE fine-tuned the mold based on the client’s required force values. The second prototype, after minor mold modifications, met the functionality requirements.
For the riveting process, FCE customized a riveting machine and tested different rivet lengths to ensure optimal connection strength and rotational force, guaranteeing a solid and reliable product connection.
Additionally, FCE designed a custom sealing and packaging machine. Each product was packed in its final packaging box, sealed with a PE bag, providing durability and waterproof protection.
Over the course of more than a year, FCE has produced over 15,000 units of Dump Buddy, with zero after-sales issues. FCE’s innovative approach and commitment to quality have provided the client with a strong competitive edge in the market.
