Uzbekistan is aiming to expand infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs), with fast charging stations being installed at key locations along the tourist highways of the country and city centers. The work is being carried out as part of implementing the Development Strategy for New Uzbekistan, adopted at the end of January. The development is planned to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022. Installation of charging stations is planned in densely populated areas of cities. Some of them will be powered by renewable energy sources. For the first time, government agencies have taken the initiative to expand the infrastructure for electric vehicles. Previously, only private companies were engaged in this activity – at the moment they have installed 36 electric charging stations.
