Lithium chloride is sometimes used as an admixture in concrete to control alkali-silica reaction (ASR), which is a chemical reaction that can occur between the alkalis in cement and reactive silica in aggregates. ASR can lead to expansion and cracking in concrete over time, compromising its durability.
Used for air conditioning, as a flux, desiccant, chemical reagent, and used in fireworks, dry batteries and lithium metal.
