The working principle of the mixer is that the materials to be mixed are added into the mixing barrel of the mixer through the inlet. The material can be powder, granule, liquid, or paste substance. Inside the mixer, there are one or more agitators (e.g., blades, paddles, or screw bands), which are driven by a motor for rotational movement. The mechanical force generated by the rotation of the agitators causes the materials to continuously turn, shear, and convect inside the mixing drum, thus achieving homogeneous mixing. For some complex materials, multi-stage mixing or a combination of different types of agitators may be used.
