Standard Material

ASTM A192 boiler tubes are made from carbon steel, which offers excellent strength and durability. The chemical composition of the steel must conform to the following requirements:

Carbon (C): Maximum 0.18%
Manganese (Mn): 0.60% to 1.20%
Phosphorus (P): Maximum 0.035%
Sulfur (S): Maximum 0.035%
Silicon (Si): 0.15% to 0.35%

Mechanical Properties

ASTM A192 boiler tubes have the following mechanical properties:

Tensile Strength: Minimum 325 MPa (47,000 psi)
Yield Strength: Minimum 180 MPa (26,000 psi)
Elongation: Minimum 35% over a 2-inch gauge length
Hardness: The tubes shall have a hardness number not exceeding a specific value, typically measured using the Brinell hardness test.
