**6R80 Direct Clutch "B" Drum Assembly :

1. **Function** – Engages **3rd, 5th, and 6th gears** by locking planetary components via hydraulic pressure.  

2. **Key Features** –  
   - **High-strength aluminum drum** with integrated clutch packs.  
   - **Sintered metal friction plates** for heavy-duty use (towing/performance).  

3. **Common Failures** –  
   - **Seal leaks** (causing slippage or delayed shifts).  
   - **Drum cracking** (rare, but seen under extreme load).  
   - **Burnt clutches** (from overheating or fluid breakdown).  

4. **Diagnosis** – Check for **DTCs (P0775/P0733)** and inspect fluid for debris.  

**Critical Note:** Requires **Mercon SP/ULTRA** fluid – improper fluid accelerates wear.
