SAPPHIRE IS HIGHLY ROBUST AT EXTREME TEMPERATURES:

A supported sapphire window can be taken to 1950℃ with no change to its shape and minimal reduction to mechanical performance. Sapphire windows are the perfect material for high temperature combustion chambers, gas processing and lamp shields.

Sapphire flats are ideal for furniture, boats and standoffs in high temperature furnace systems. Sapphire flats remain flat and dimensionally "perfect" up to 1700℃. Because of sapphire's extreme chemical resistance many materials will not stick to sapphire in spite of high temperatures.

Sapphire windows and flats maintain the highest temperature rating of all optical materials in both oxidizing and inert atmospheres.

Sapphire windows can withstand considerably higher temperatures than the closest runner up material, fused silica, with zero degradation. Fused silica will degrade and devitrify over time at temperatures almost half the maximum operating temperature of sapphire

Specification for Optical Sapphire Window:

Sapphire is a single crystal aluminum oxide (Al2O3). It is one of the hardest materials. Sapphire has good transmission characteristics over the visible, and near IR spectrum. It exhibits high mechanical strength, chemical resistance, thermal conductivity and thermal stability. It is often used as window materials in specific field such as space technology where scratch or high temperature resistance is required.

Sapphire glass are ideal for applications where high pressure, high temperature, high thermal loads, vacuum, scratch resistance, corrosion resistance, small coefficient of friction as well as optical and insulating properties are a consideration.

-Sapphire windows normally need to work under extreme operating conditions, so hard AR coating is required to withstand harsh environmental conditions and improve resistance to scratching.

-Sapphire substrate has a high refractive index, thus usually requires an antireflection coating on sapphire windows for sufficient transmission in the region of interest.
