Reverse osmosis is a membrane separation process driven by a pressure difference. Various molecules in water are filtered due to the selective retention effect of the semi-permeable membrane. It separates solutes from solvents in a solution under pressure higher than the osmotic pressure of the solution, utilizing a semi-permeable membrane that allows only water to pass through but not other substances. As we all know, reverse osmosis technology is pollution-free, advanced process, easy to operate and maintain.
How it Works
- By applying pressure higher than the natural osmotic pressure, the reverse osmosis method forces the water molecules to flow through the membrane in the opposite direction, producing clean water on the low pressure side.
- The membrane is the basic component of a reverse osmosis system. These membranes effectively block dissolved salts, particulate matter, and organic contaminants due to their 0.0001 micron hole size, which ensures that only water molecules and solvents smaller than this size pass through. Wastewater is expelled along with the inhibition of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and chemical ions outside the membrane.
