Using a Membrane Switch with Arduino

Here's a basic guide on how to set up a membrane switch module with an Arduino:

Components Needed

  • Arduino board (e.g., Arduino Uno)
  • Membrane switch module
  • Breadboard and jumper wires
  • Resistor (typically 10k ohm for pull-down configuration)

Wiring Diagram

  1. Connect the Membrane Switch:
    • Connect the common pin (COM) of the membrane switch to a digital input pin on the Arduino.
    • Connect the other pins (for each button) to ground through a resistor (10k ohm).

Explanation

  • INPUT_PULLUP: This configures the pin with an internal pull-up resistor, meaning the pin reads HIGH when the button is unpressed and LOW when pressed.
  • Debouncing: A short delay is included to prevent multiple readings from a single press.
