PowerVault ME412
PowerVault ME4offers several different configurations, but they are all designed to start on a small scale and can be expanded by adding drives to meet business needs that grow over time. ME4 also offers a comprehensive licensing program that makes it easier for small businesses to understand ownership and set budgets flexibly. On the deployment side, ME4 can be configured in DAS and SAN to meet a variety of different use cases. Management through the HTML5 Web interface makes management and initial deployment more intuitive; Dell Ericsson expects the new system to be up and running within 15 minutes. Although many people start their PowerVault ME4 in the HDD configuration, by adding a little flash memory, the system can later become a hybrid system. Paired with SSD,ME4 can provide quite high performance; in fact, Dale Eason claims performance as high as 320000 IOPS. The reliability of ME4 is also very high, with availability up to 5 9s (99.999%). If you need to expand, ME4 also does a good job in this respect, extending the raw capacity to 4PB through the 12G SAS backend. All systems have an in-depth set of features, including caching / tiering, asynchronous replication, snapshots, support for SED drives, integration with VMware vCenter and SRM, distributed RAID, thin provisioning, and so on.
