Dell's newly released SC5020 is a mid-range storage product that combines optimized economic benefits and excellent work efficiency. With high-performance Intel processors, 4x memory, and 12 Gb SAS backend, compared to the SC4020, the SC5020 provides twice the maximum capacity, up to three times the bandwidth, and up to 45% more IOPS. It features a new 3U all-in-one chassis, including 30 drive bays and dual hot swappable controllers, providing up to 460TB of raw capacity in a compact unit, Various expansion cabinets can be utilized to expand the capacity of each array to up to 2 PB.
The most attractive advantage of SC5020 is its lower hybrid storage cost in the industry and flexible flash memory architecture. Customers can leverage innovative Storage Center Operating System (SCOS) designs to create hybrid solutions that combine the performance of SSDs with the cost advantages of more economical 7200 rpm HDDs. The SC series products perform particularly well in the automatic layer by focusing on tracking the independent activity of each fine sub LUN-level data block and migrating these data blocks between SSD, HDD, and RAID layers according to custom best practice principles (assuming RAID is dynamically configured). Due to all written content entering the first layer of flash memory, each load will achieve excellent performance - this data is quickly converted to a more efficient RAID layer and ultimately migrated to HDDs as usage frequency decreases, resulting in customers ultimately purchasing fewer SSDs overall. More flexibly, SSDs, HDDs, and RAID will not be locked in a specific combination. Customers can increase the speed of new loads by adding SSDs, or add HDDs based on the growth of cold data volume to obtain "cheap and massive" capacity. SC5020 allows customers to independently set the required flash memory to meet specific cost-effectiveness requirements, and easily modify media configuration combinations according to changing needs.
