A Fresh Air Handling Unit With Heat Recovery Wheel (FAHU with Heat Recovery Wheel) is a specialized HVAC equipment designed to supply fresh outdoor air to indoor spaces while efficiently recovering sensible and latent heat from the exhaust air being discharged from the building.
The heat-recovery unit re-uses the air from the building to warm or cool new fresh air. A typical unit features two fans—one to reuse the building air (Return Fan), and the other to bring in fresh air (Supply Fan). The unique component is the heat-exchange core, which transfers heat from the outgoing stream to the incoming stream, similar to how a car radiator transfers heat from engine coolant to outside air.
