Pretreatment system

Multi-media filter: Removes suspended solids, sediment, colloids, rust and other particles, and reduces turbidity and SDI values.

Activated carbon filter: Adsorbs residual chlorine, organic matter, odor, color and some heavy metals. Residual chlorine will irreversibly oxidize and damage the RO membrane.

Softener (optional but always available) : If the hardness of the influent water is relatively high (with a high content of calcium and magnesium ions), the softener removes hardness ions through ion exchange to prevent scaling on the RO membrane surface (such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, etc.). For a system of 10 tons per hour, it is usually required.

Security filter: Installed before the RO main unit, it is usually a 5-micron precision filter element, serving as the last line of defense to ensure that the water entering the RO membrane does not contain any particles that could scratch or clog the membrane.

Dosing system (optional) : It may include scale inhibitor dosing (to prevent inorganic salt scaling), non-oxidizing biocide dosing (to control microbial growth), and reducing agent dosing (if the pretreatment cannot completely remove residual chlorine).
