C276 Hastelloy, also known as Inconel C276, is a high-performance nickel based alloy. It is mainly composed of elements such as nickel, molybdenum, chromium, and iron, and has excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. Therefore, it is widely used in various industrial fields under harsh environments.

The mechanical properties of Hastelloy alloy are very prominent, it has the characteristics of high strength and high toughness, so it has a certain difficulty in machining, when the deformation rate reaches 15%, it is about twice that of 18-8 stainless steel. Hastelloy also has a medium-temperature sensitization zone, and its sensitization tendency increases with the increase of deformation rate. When the temperature is high, Hastelloy is easy to absorb harmful elements, which reduces its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

Characteristics of Hastelloy C276

• Corrosion resistance: C276 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, especially its ability to resist various strong acids, salts, and oxides. It performs well in acidic, alkaline, and oxidizing environments and can resist the corrosion of chloride ions, making it widely used in seawater treatment and chemical equipment.
• Mechanical properties: This alloy maintains good strength and toughness at both room temperature and high temperature. Its strength is much higher than other nickel based alloys such as Monel 400, and it also has good processability and weldability.
• Oxidation resistance: C276 alloy can maintain stable performance at high temperatures, resist oxidation and sulfide formation, and is therefore suitable for applications under high temperature, high pressure, and oxidative conditions.
• Thermal stability: It can operate over a wide temperature range, maintaining stable performance in environments from low to high temperatures, making it highly practical in various industrial applications.
• Creep resistance: C276 alloy has good resistance to creep under high temperature and persistent stress, which is an important factor for its long-term use in the petroleum and chemical industries.

Main fields of Hastelloy C276

• Chemical treatment industry: C276 alloy is widely used in the chemical treatment industry, especially in environments containing chlorides, sulfides, and oxidizing media. It is commonly used to manufacture equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, distillation towers, pipelines, and valves, ensuring long-term operation of the equipment without being affected by corrosion.
• Petroleum and natural gas industry: Due to its corrosion resistance to sulfides and chlorides, C276 alloy is widely used in the extraction, processing, and transportation of petroleum and natural gas. It is commonly used to manufacture equipment such as pipelines, valves, and pump bodies, ensuring the reliability and durability of the equipment in harsh environments.

• Low carbon content which minimizes grain-boundary carbide precipitation during welding to maintain resistance to corrosion in heat-affected zones of welded joints
